Important: Career Day Tomorrow
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to hear from Duncan Kirkwood about the importance of resilience, finding your passion, and discovering your purpose. One of the most important messages from his presentation is that success is not always a straight path. It requires us to explore our interests, take risks, overcome challenges, and remain open to opportunities we may not have considered.
Tomorrow, we will build on that message with our LHS Career Fair. Presenters will focus on their individual personal journeys.
We are fortunate to welcome 29 professionals from our community who have generously volunteered their time to share their career experiences and personal journeys. These individuals represent a wide variety of professions, including healthcare, business, finance, education, public safety, technology, entrepreneurship, and the trades.
The purpose of tomorrow's Career Fair is not for you to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life. Rather, it is an opportunity to explore possibilities, discover new interests, and begin thinking about what gives you a sense of purpose.
As Duncan Kirkwood reminded us, resilience is an important part of achieving success. Tomorrow, I encourage you to ask our guests not only what they do, but how they got there. Did they always know what they wanted to do? What challenges did they face? Did their career path change along the way? What advice would they give their high school selves?
This linked document includes the schedule, a list of participating professionals, and suggested questions to help guide your conversations. You may want to review this prior to the fair tomorrow. As you participate, I ask that you approach each conversation with curiosity, confidence, and respect. Introduce yourself, ask thoughtful questions, listen carefully, and thank our guests for sharing their time and experiences.
